Why a Propress steamer?
Propress started making fabric steamers in 1980, it is the definitive steaming brand from the steam experts, a firm favourite of leading international fashion brands and London Fashion Week. Propress delivers quality, performance and customer service.
Not simply steam
A Propress steamer doesn’t just produce steam, it produces a consistent flow of dense hot crease-busting steam. Whether you are steaming curtains 3.5m high, or the hem of a dress, you can be sure the steam keeps flowing and is directed to wherever it's needed.
Built to last
Propress has been ticking the boxes for sustainability since inception, using high quality materials throughout, ensuring longevity and serviceability and giving a great return on investment as well as outstanding results. From delicate wedding dresses to vintage jeans, a Propress garment steamer is simply the best steamer money can buy.
Easy maintenance
Keeping your steamer in top working order is simple with a Propress fabric steamer, even in hard water areas. The design of the PRO series Propress steamer, with its stainless steel tank, means that scaling issues are kept to a minimum, and periodically flushing out and descaling ensures optimum performance.
Steam on the hanger
Designed to save valuable time and space, steaming clothes on the hanger or on the rail with a Propress Steamer is quick and effective. There's no need for cumbersome ironing boards, instead garments can be hung on the integral pole set for easy steaming.
Hygenic steam
Delivering steam at temperatures of 100 degrees C, Propress is an effective part of your cleaning protcol; killing bacteria and mould which can cause odours. Propress steamers are also an ideal tool for moth control; killing moth larvae which can cause irreparable damage to your favourite garments.
Lightweight and manoeuvrable
Despite the high levels of power and stability, the Propress PRO series steamers are remarkably light at aproximately 8.5Kgs. And with double wheel castors it's ideal for use at home, shop or film set.
Frequently Asked Questions
It comes with an aluminium nozzle/ iron plate – why is this?
To achieve the perfect finish you need a bit more than just steam! Steam relaxes and plumps up the fibres of your fabric giving them new life and making creases simply fall out, and the iron plate smooths the fabric like an iron.
What fabrics can I use the Propress PRO on?
Because the contact temperature is much lower than a steam iron, a PRO series steamer is safe to use on nearly all fabrics.
How does a steamer compare to an iron?
No ironing board required! Steamers are faster, more convenient and much kinder to fabrics than conventional steam irons. Because you steam clothes and curtains in their hanging form, its much easier to see what you are doing and to get to the intricate and difficult to reach parts of a garment.
Steamers work by relaxing the fibres to remove creases. Ironing uses higher temperatures and weight/force to compress fibres. The heat and compression of fibres over time causes irreversible damage and wear, shortening the life of the garment.
Steamers can be used on a range of fabrics, and steaming can be done ‘in-situ’. Curtains can be steamed on the rail, clothes on hangers, cushions and seat covers directly on the sofa, and linen on the bed; saving time and effort.
Steaming is also better for the environment. Clothes last longer, less dry cleaner visits are needed for particular clothes (and therefore less use of chemicals), and less washes (meaning less wastage of water, use of detergents and energy).
What water do I use?
Normal tap water.
Can a steamer burn clothes?
Steamers are generally much safer to use on fabrics than irons, primarily because they operate at lower temperatures. The contact temperature of an iron producing steam is >180°C. The PRO however has a contact temperature of just 98°C, making it suitable for a much wider range of fabrics which cannot be ironed.
Do I need to descale the steamer tank every so often?
Yes. We recommend cleaning your steamer out with fresh water regularly (depending on use), and descaling using Propress Descaler periodically depending on the water hardness and the amount of use. No additives in any form should be used, the use of additives (except Propress Descaler) will damage your steamer and void the warranty. Hard water causes scale to form on the heating element if not maintained properly; this will cause reduced performance, irreparable damage to the element and void your warranty.
How long does it take to steam an item of clothing?
This will depend on the garment, but we estimate a steaming time of less than a minute for shirts, tops and jackets and a bit longer for trousers and dresses.
How many garments can I steam between refills?
The PRO lasts for one hour which should allow for approximately 25 garments to be steamed, depending on style and complexity. Items such as wedding dresses will take considerably longer to steam than shirts.
What warranty do you offer?
Even though we take every care to ensure your Propress is delivered in 100% perfect condition, it is still possible that, in rare cases, it has a fault. If you discover that your product has a manufacturing or material defect, please contact our customer support and we will help you.
Is delivery free?
Delivery is free of charge if you select the Standard Shipping option during Checkout.
If you select Express Shipping, delivery is then charged at $20 (for the entire order, not per product).
